common problems with blackra1n and blacksn0w

nothing is perfect and right now there are several problems with geohot’s blackra1n and blacksn0w… and below you have solutions…

problem:
after turning off the iPhone, you get the screen ‘connect to iTunes’.
solution:
you have to do a jailbreak again :/

problem:
after using blacks0w wifi stops working (iPhone is unable to find any network)
solution:
you should reset network settings by navigating to Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings and then reboot the iPhone.

iPhoneNetworkSettings

problem:
after jailbreaking your device with blackra1n you might’ve noticed that YouTube app is throwing a message saying ‘Cannot connect to YouTube’ and also you will notice issues with push service.
solution:
these issues are caused by hackactivation. here’s the solution.
1/ launch cydia
2/ select ‘manage’
3/ tap ‘add’
4/ give it ‘http://cydia.iphoneil.net/’ and tap ‘add source’, then ‘done’
5/ now search for ‘pushfix’ and install it
6/ after install, reboot
7/ go to settings, enable ‘wifi’ again
8/ after enabling ‘wifi’, reboot again
9/ that’s it. youtube and push fix done! :)

problem:
more problems and solutions coming soon!

if you have any other problems, please describe them in comments.
i’ll try to find a solution for you! :)

i have the same problem. I deleted the blackrain icon from the phone accidently before i could log on to the internet and run the app on the phone. How do i get it back, even after restoring the phone it does not appear anymore after running blackrain numerous times.

Please help

Liezl, that is not possible.
restore your iphone properly and run blackra1n again.

What iPhone do you have (2g, 3g, 3gs)?

or maybe apple modified newest firmware?!?!?

I have a 3GS/3.1.2 successfully unlocked and jailbroked with blackra1n a month ago. I have the WiFi issue sometimes (NO WiFI or WiFi not working) and restoring Network settings solved the problem. But as you know, the phone goes to recovery mode every time I reboot it, so I use blackra1n to boot it.
PROBLEM. URGENT
I used to live with that process, but today (dec-15), every time I use blackra1n, I get the blackra1n logo as usual and after sometime (long time) the apple logo boot screen appears and the phone goes to recovery mode again. I am not able to get rid of recovery mode and use the phone!!!

I downloaded blackra1n once again, and tried the same process several times with no results. I did not update the phone or downloaded any application recently. Please URGENT your help!!

Thank you, after restoring again and running blackrain a few more times, the blackrain icon appeared and it is now working. Thank you.

Just one more question
A friend of mine and i bought our iphone 3gs on exactly the same day, 32gb from bestbuy. We both did the jailbreak and unlocked the phones, mine giving me a little harder time, as you know. Now his phone does not go into recovery mode after turning it off but mine does. Isnt that strange?

Regards

how did your friend jailbreak the phone? using blackra1n or quickpwn?

Liezl December 29th, 2009 at 9:19 pm

using black rain, he installed cydia and then ran cydia, updating etc. Then he installed rock and updated. Then he ran blacksn0w.

i cannot imagine turning off my iphone without a need of jailbreaking again :) i cannot believe that as i have the same problem. but look what i found:

“Check the serial # of the phone under Settings | General | About. If the 4th and 5th digit of the serial is “42″ or higher, then you got a phone with the new iBoot and will require this each time its rebooted, unless/until someone comes up with a way to hack this in the future. And this applies if you use BR1 or PwnageTool/custom IPSW to JB. No tools exist currently to get around this.”

mine is a “42″… gosh darn it! :)
